In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in managing, maintaining, and optimising VMware Infrastructure Cluster Environments, ensuring top-notch security, reliability, and performance. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting various IT department activities, from change management to Microsoft support and networking and firewall tasks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nVMware Infrastructure Mastery:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nTake charge of the day-to-day operation and administration of VMware Infrastructure Cluster Environments.<\/span><\/span>
\nGuarantee the availability, reliability, and high performance of virtualization resources.<\/span><\/span>
\nPatch Management:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nLead the implementation and management of the Update Manager patching process to maintain the VMware environment’s currency and security.<\/span><\/span>
\nSkillfully schedule and coordinate maintenance windows for patching activities.<\/span><\/span>
\nTroubleshooting Expertise:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nConduct thorough troubleshooting of VMware infrastructure issues, swiftly identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.<\/span><\/span>
\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve intricate technical problems.<\/span><\/span>
\nHardening and Security Measures:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nEstablish and sustain security measures and best practices to safeguard the VMware infrastructure against vulnerabilities and threats.<\/span><\/span>
\nConduct regular reviews and updates of security policies and configurations.<\/span><\/span>
\nMonitoring and Health Checks:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nContinuously monitor the health and performance of the VMware environment.<\/span><\/span>
\nGenerate periodic status reports and proactively address any issues to maintain peak performance.<\/span><\/span>
\nSupport for Department Activities:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nCollaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to define and execute General Change Requests (GCRs) related to VMware infrastructure.<\/span><\/span>
\nLend expertise in Microsoft support and contribute to the resolution of Microsoft technology-related issues.<\/span><\/span>
\nParticipate in networking and firewall activities as required.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nCertifications:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nEssential: Must hold a VMWare VCP 7 Certification.<\/span><\/span>
\nProject Management Skills:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nDemonstrated prowess in project management, including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee complex VMware infrastructure projects.<\/span><\/span>
\nInfrastructure Setup Proficiency:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nProven expertise in configuring complete VMware Clusters, including networking and storage configurations.<\/span><\/span>
\nNetworking and Storage Familiarity:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nFamiliarity with Fiber Channel switches, switches, SAN storage, and their integration with VMware infrastructure.<\/span><\/span>
\nVMware Expertise:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nProficiency in VMware technologies, including DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler), DPM (Distributed Power Management), and High Availability designs.<\/span><\/span>
\nSAN Storage Knowledge:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nFamiliarity with SAN storage systems and their application in a virtualized environment.<\/span><\/span>
\nCLI Proficiency:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nHigh proficiency in VMware Command Line Interface (CLI) for efficient management and troubleshooting.<\/span><\/span>
\nP2V Experience:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nProven experience with Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) migrations.<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nAdditional Skills:<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
\nGeneral knowledge of backup systems and Microsoft technologies is advantageous, given the multi-technology environment support aspect of the role.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
